DAGFARI NATTFARISON FRA CLEAR LAKE FARM [CAN] 1626

Black with star, born March 2002 in Ontario, Canada

Sire: Náttfari vom Wiesenhof First Prize Stallion (8.55 overall)

Dam: Skvetta-Hrefna

Dagfari is a handsome and proud looking stallion – jet-black with a natural double mane and picture perfect forelock - impressive - yet easy to approach. We have high hopes for him.

Dagfari exactly matches the description of Náttfari's offspring. He is an energetic gaited horse with a natural tölt and clearly separated good quality basic gaits. He definitely inherited his father's natural tölt and shows excellent and supple movements in all gaits. We are convinced that Dagfari will be a worthy successor to his father Náttfari who was a First Prize Stallion with a score of 9 for tölt, a score of 9 for pace and a score of 9 for temperament.

Dagfari’s dam Hrefna is one of our brood mares and the most popular riding school and trail horse. She maintains her clear beat tölt even if ridden by beginners and tourists throughout our riding season. Hrefna also participates successfully at competitions in Ontario and is a great all-round horse with enormous stamina.

Dagfari is very friendly and easy to handle. We started to ride him in spring 2006 and work with him for about 8 weeks. His training continued with a more intense 10 week period in the fall. Overall we are very pleased with Dagfari. He was eager to work right from the beginning, yet easy to control. His gaits are all very balanced and clearly separated. His tölt has a clear beat and a good speed range. Dagfari did not need to be taught how to tölt – it was all there! – tölt is a truly natural gait for him. His basic gaits are great too and secure. Already at this stage of his training any rider with a little bit of experience could enjoy a great ride on him.

Dagfari’s character and temperament are wonderful. He behaves perfectly with other horses around - including mares. He can be taken out on rides along with mares without any problems. Dagfari is respectful, yet close to people.

We expect Dagfari to pass on his natural tölt as well as his temperament, character and willingness which are suitable for riders with different level of experience. During a seminar with the FEIF International Breeding Judge Barbara Frische in June 2007 Dagfari frá Clear Lake Farm served as demo horse for conformation assessment. Barbara was quite please with his conformation and assessed most of the individual section with a score of 8. The back and croup were assessed at 8.5. She mentioned that if the back would have been a bit more muscled she would consider giving him a 9. His lush forelock, mane and tail would be certain to reach a 9. His gait distribution makes him suitable for 4 and 5 gaited mares alike.

So far Dagfari has received favourable comments from Ullu Becker, National Breeding Judge from Germany who saw him at 3 years old, from Bruno Podlech, long time breeder and manager of the famous breeding farm “Der Wiesenhof” in Germany at age 4 as well as Richard Thompson, well-known natural horsemanship teacher from Quebec.
